A TIG torch gas lens is a component used in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding to improve gas coverage and shielding around the weld area. It consists of a mesh or screen system that distributes the shielding gas more evenly, reducing turbulence and allowing for better protection of the tungsten electrode and weld pool. This results in improved weld quality, reduced oxidation, and the ability to extend the tungsten electrode further for better access to tight spaces. Gas lenses are especially useful for welding reactive metals like stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum.
